Demaco Corporation was established in 1978, under the laws of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and  began operating as a maintenance and corrosion company serving the Island's petrochemical complex. In the years that followed, Demaco expanded its capabilities to include construction and engineering in addition to maintenance activities. In 1984, Demaco established a chemicals terminal, the largest in Puerto Rico, and, applying the latest technology in the Caribbean, launched bulk storage services for chemical products of world-class petrochemical companies. Demaco owns around 280 Acres of land, and it is always available to consider new possible business joint-ventures or land sales and leases. Located in the best industrial site of Puerto Rico due to its registered free trade zone and a number of government incentives for new business developments. Demaco Corporation is a minority, female owned and operated, small business. Demaco is also involved in the trading business, it is importing products and representing foreign companies to distribute their products throughout the Caribbean and Latin America. Demaco Construction provides general services and  support for maintenance and construction type work performed throughout Puerto Rico.  These services are offered to every type of industry with a concentration in pharmaceutical, oil refineries, and electrical power plants. Demaco Terminal Operations  is a "terminal for hire".  It receives, stores and dispatches chemical products for major pharmaceutical, petrochemical and manufacturing companies.  Demaco does not own the products stored at its facility,  but it is responsible for maintaining the quality and quantity of the products while under its custody. Demaco Trading is dedicated to international trading and consulting services. We are a main player on the international trade of goods and services. Personnel:

Odette Lopez-Dessy, CEO/Owner. Manager and supervisor of all administrative, human resource, and financing requirements of the corporation. Prior to joining Demaco, Odette worked in Damas Hospital, where she supervised and managed different Laboratories such as Bacteriology, Chemistry, and Hematology.

Giovanna Dessy, Legal Advisor & Administrative Vice President. Serves as legal advisor for various business transactions dealing with partnerships, acquisitions, service contracts, and asset sales. Provides legal advice for matters related to environmental issues for an industrial site Research on legal issues related to corporate, environmental and labor laws. Prior to joining Demaco, Giovanna served as an associate attorney for the law firms of DeGuzman & Gierbolini Law Offices and Axtmayer, PSC.

Gennaro Dessy, Chairman of the Board. Born in Sardinia, Italy.  Arrived in Puerto Rico in 1970 to work as Director of Maintenance and Engineering in PPG Industries, Guayanilla, PR, with over 300 employees under his supervision.  In 1978 established Demaco Corporation, with the specialty in maintenance and construction. In 1984, acquired the assets of PPG Industries, in Guayanilla, and established a chemicals terminal, the largest in Puerto Rico and with the most advanced technology in the Caribbean. Customers include PPG Industries, Exxon Chemical, Dow Chemical, Occidental Chemical, and Union Carbide. Mr. Dessy has held important positions in the following organizations:  President, Chamber of Commerce of Ponce and Southern Puerto Rico; Vice President, International Free Trade Zone, Inc.; President, Private Industry Council; President, Job Training Partnership Act of Ponce; Chairman, Independent Liquid Terminals Association, in Washington, DC; Vice President, Southern Region of Independent Liquid Terminals Association with base in Houston, Texas; Assistant to the President of Central Connecticut University for Industrial Relations.  Member of the Board of Trustees of Suffield Academy, Connecticut.

Luigi Dessy, Director of Operations and Vice President.  Graduated from Trinity College, Hartford, CT in mechanical engineering. Prior to joining Demaco, Luigi served as a project engineer for Bechtel in the construction of power plants and telecommunication networks. He has also worked for Turner Construction obtaining risk management experience. Luigi is now responsible for project executions, starting from cost estimating phase and ending with design, construction and cost control. Responsible for risk management, health & safety issues, market development, sales, and data base development for terminal facilities and cost estimating used in construction and maintenance activities.

Richard Buta, Executive Vice President. With 30 years experience in the energy, engineering, construction, and technical service fields.  Before coming to Demaco Corporation, he worked for Bechtel Power, US Generating Company, EcoElectrica, and Resource Planning Associates in positions ranging from Project Manager to Vice President. At Bechtel, he assisted in the transition from a focus on nuclear power plant engineering and construction to fossil energy power plants.  At US Generating, he managed teams that developed domestic power projects, including $350 million waste coat-fired power plant built and operating in Pennsylvania.  For EcoElectrica he headed a team in Puerto Rico responsible for developing and financing a $750 million, 500 megawatt electric power plant and associated liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal now supplying power to the island grid. Richard has an engineering degree and masters degrees in economics, business, and public administration from Harvard University and Harvard Business School. He has been a member of Board of Directors of Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce, an advisor to US national security agencies, and President of El Nido Civic Association in Washington, DC.

Néstor Cruz, PE, Construction General Manager and Vice President.  Registered to do engineering practice in Puerto Rico, with License Number 6121.  He is also a certified tank inspector by the American Petroleum Institute, Certificate authorized to inspect and repair propane gas cargo tanks.  Member of the Steel Structure Painting Council(SSPC).  Member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). With over 35 years experience as a mechanical engineer in the petrochemical and construction fields, he has proven expertise in a wide variety of industries and in a broad range of engineering disciplines.

Francisco Andújar, Terminal General Manager.  Responsible for the safety, quality and operation of the Chemicals Terminal. Francisco has over 35 years of experience in the petrochemical Industry. Prior to joining Demaco, Francisco worked for PPG industries.

Nelson Torres, Safety, Health & Environmental Specialist. With over 35 years experience in researching and implementing federal regulations that serve as the basis for the complicated requirements imposed upon an organization such as ours. Nelson is an authorized OSHA 10 and 30 hour Construction & General Industry trainer, and provides Demaco's in-house training requirements. Nelson is the writer of Demaco's OPA 90 Response Plans, HAZCOM, HAZWOPER, and HAZMAT Programs. Prior to joining Demaco, Nelson served in PPG Industries for five years, and in the U.S. Army for 23 years.

Alejandro Leon, Project Manager/QA/QC. With over 35 years experience in petrochemical, electrical, and construction fields, Alex's duties at Demaco are to inspect, recommend and enforce sound construction, repairing, and testing practices on boiler and tanks. Alex is our QA/QC overseer for the construction and repair work for boilers and pressure vessels following the strictest standards of The National Board of Pressure Boiler Inspectors. Prior to joining Demaco, Alex has held a myriad of positions in Raytheon Catalytic, Caribbean Petroleum Corporation, Arochem International, Western Digital and Storage Technology, Yabucoa Sun Oil, and the Commonwealth Oil Refining Company, and others,  holding positions of great responsibility.

Manuel E. Torres, PE, CWI, Project Manager/Engineer. With over 14 years of experience in the general construction industry, including structural, civil, and management fields. Manuel is responsible for estimating, developing and managing new projects. Manuel is a licensed engineer registered in  the commonwealth of Puerto Rico. He is also a Certified Welding Inspector by the American Welding Society. Prior to joining Demaco, Manuel was a Project Engineer with C&H Systems, Inc. and worked independently in consulting, project management, welding inspection, and structural design. Graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA in civil engineering. He brings a new opportunity and focus to Demaco Corporation.

Eliot Albino, Engineering Estimator/Field Coordinator. Responsible for project execution, including cost estimating phase and ending with design, construction and cost control. Eliot is also draftsman for projects requiring Isometrics, P&ID's, and coordinates and supervises the construction of civil and mechanical projects. Eliot is responsible for the project organization, including the selection of adequate manpower, equipment and materials. Prior to joining Demaco, Eliot worked for Costa Caribe operations, Allston Power & the US Army Corps of Engineers in Puerto Rico. As a member of the US Army Reserve with over 27 years of service, he has reached the position of Sergeant.

Rigoberto Rullan, Project Superintendent for civil and mechanical work. With over 35 years experience in petrochemical and construction fields, Rigoberto's duties at Demaco are to oversee the construction of general types of projects in the field of civil and mechanical. Rigoberto is responsible for the project organization, starting from the selection of adequate manpower, following necessary equipment selection, and ending with coordination of project materials. Prior to joining Demaco, Rigoberto held important positions of responsibility at the Commonwealth Oil Refining Company.

Heriberto Figueroa, Project Superintendent. With over 35 years experience in petrochemical and construction fields, Heriberto's duties at Demaco are to oversee the sandblasting and painting work for boiler, heaters, and huge storage tanks. He is also the expert in fiberglass work, and floor linings. Heriberto is responsible for the project organization, starting from the selection of adequate manpower, following necessary equipment selection, and ending with coordination of project materials.  Prior to joining Demaco, Heriberto held important positions of responsibility at Daniel Construction Company.
